Near Miss October 2014

The tail of Hurricane Gonzalo hit the UK on Tuesday, 21st October 2014, the effects of which created a  similar scene to the tidal surge of November 2007 on the Deben Estuary. Fortunately, the total surge of 2m didn't materialise until some hours after the evening high tide.  At the time of high water the surge was 0.91m.  Had the total surge coincided with high water we would have seen effects similar to the flood of December 2013.  Here is the scene in Waldringfield that evening.
